Helifix Structural Repairs

The Water Tower was part of a hospital complex in Basingstoke, Which Thomas Homes along with other developers are converting into a residential area. The Water Tower which forms a focal point of the development has had the water tanks removed ready to be turned into residential units, But the tower had formed some serious structural cracking.
LSE was contacted and together with
HELIFIX a
repair scheme was designed and put forward along
with a fixed price quotation to the main contractor.
The scheme consisted of using Helibeaming and
cemties. This would prevent the building for
degrading until an external repair can be carried out,
as this was not possible at this time.

The works were carried by
LSE Structural
Solutions in two phases to suit the main
contractors plans. The joins were cut out ready
for the Helibeam to be installed, then the
Cemties were also drilled ready for installation.
Once all cutting and drilling had been carried
out the Helibeam and Cemties were installed.
When all Structural works by LSE had been
carried out the main contractor was then safe to
carry on with the conversion works.
All the works are covered by HELIFIX
guarantee.

Crack
Stitching is used when a building starts to get vertical cracking, once the
cause of the crack has been determined as suitable crack stitching method
can be employed. Crack stitches are installed into the bed joints across the
cracks. The bed joints are cut out and then the helical bar is grouted in
place preventing any future movement.
Heli-Beaming
is used to create a structural beam, by installing long lengths of helibar
at a set spacing and using the existing masonry to create a beam. This
method is used where subsidence is a problem and can be used in conjunction
with under pinning.
